How to fix your bathroom problems in few easy steps?

Updated: Feb 12, 2020

The bathroom is one of the most used spaces in the house. Despite being one of the smallest areas in the household, things can get really annoying and messy if something in the bathroom is faulty. It could be the shower head, the tap, faulty tiles, or mold on the walls.

Here are some of the most common problems in the bathroom and how to fix them:

1. Shower Head:

Taking a shower is an everyday task. It is the way one starts or ends their day. Hence, it can be extremely problematic if the shower head in your bathroom starts leaking or stops running altogether. If there is excess water leaking, it could even cause mold, which is even more worrysome.

To fix it, you will first need to shut the water supply off to the shower. If you can't do that, you will have to shut the supply off to the entire house.

Then, you will have to remove the shower head and clean it. Lime and mineral deposits can get stuck inside the shower head, which causes it to leak. Hence, in order to clean it, dip it in a bowl of vinegar for a few hours to remove the deposits.

Another thing which should be done is replace washers and/or rubber O-rings inside the shower head if they look worn or damaged.

2. Clogged drain or clogged toilet

Facing a clogged drain while taking a shower or using the toilet is one of the most common problems people face in their bathrooms and toilets.

The cause for a clogged drain in the bathroom is mostly hair which is not picked up on time or other debris which gets caught inside. The common cause for a clogged toilet could be the use of excessive toilet paper.

The most common way to fix a clogged toilet is using a plunger. Other common tools which can be used to fix the clogging is a toilet snake.

3. Mould

As mentioned earlier, mold can occur if there is excess water leakage and lack or proper ventilation in the bathroom.

Mold can cause a lot of problems, not only to the bathroom but to your physical health as well. It can cause allergies and respiratory infections as well.

Mold is not very easy to remove and hence, it would make sense to call for professional help to get rid of it.
